Design Concept:

A luxury 16 storey residential building which involved the conversion and renovation of a landmark hotel on the Upper East Side and the building of an attached new 5 storey townhouse. The interiors purposefully considered the original historical vernacular of the building, designed in the 40’s, with the intent to capture both the grace and rigour of that time. A loosely interpreted Art Moderne language weaves its way throughout the project with artistic expression – a Lobby Reception Hall defined by a stone mosaic perspective wall art panel with view to a laser cut metal sculpture garden, a Concierge Area, defined by an agate stone floor inlay, takes a sculptural stone desk and sister spot table fabricated in stark white stone placed proud of a smoke art glass wall panel. Historical wood wall paneling articulated with simplified detailing transitions from light to dark throughout the Lobby which establishes a dialogue in contrast. Private residences are afforded the same level of bespoke detailing- stain grade wall paneling, stone wall bases, full height crystal glass wall panels, custom stone mosaics and quartz, exotic vanity case materials – creating an environment that respects context and is both chic and timeless.
